The word ‘Actives’ is referred to active ingredients such as Retinol, Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Kojic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid. These are usually the additional products we add to our regular cleaner-moisturiser-sunscreen routine.
Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C can be used during the day or at night, while all the others can be used at night to avoid photosensitivity.
‘Actives’ usually should be applied first after cleansing your skin and layered with moisturiser few minutes later.
But I personally would suggest, you use a light weight moisturiser prior to using an active serum, if you have sensitive or dry skin.
If your using an active cream or serum, you should have already been using a sunblock that is 50+SPF.
Layering 2 or more actives on the same day is not my cup of tea, I’d rather ask you to use 2 actives on alternative nights for effective results.
